Router Setup Guide: NetComm NF18ACV
| Method: Using a computer for router settings
1. DSL (no longer used): Use the provided RJ11 cable to connect the router to the telephone line operating your xDSL service.
2. Telephone 1 and 2 (no longer used): Connect a regular analogue telephone handset here for use with a VoIP service.
3. Ethernet 1-4: Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. Connect your Ethernet-based devices to one of these ports for internet access.
4. WAN: Gigabit-capable WAN port for connection to a WAN network. Connect to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) for internet access.
5. Reset button: Reset unit to Default by holding the Reset button down for 10 seconds when unit is powered on.
6. USB: Connect an external USB storage device here to use the Network Attached Storage (NAS) feature of the router.
7. Power supply jack: Connection point for the included power adapter. Connect the power supply here.
Step-1. Connect the router
(1) Turn off the modem (ONT)
Note that the modem means the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) device, known as a fibre box.
(2) Connect the modem (ONT) to the router's WAN(Internet) port with an Ethernet cable.
(3) Turn on the modem (ONT), and then wait about 2 minutes for it to restart.
(4) Connect the power adapter to the router and turn on the router.
Step-2. Access the router
Connect your computer to the router using an Ethernet cable and join the router's local area network (LAN) port. The computer must have an Ethernet port.
Step-3. Setup the router
(1) Open a web browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) and type the default gateway address (e.g. 192.168.20.1).
Note that the computer you use should be connected to the router via Wired (LAN port).
(2) Enter the router admin username and password.
Note that the default username and password are admin/admin.
(3) Start the Setup Wizard or Go to the Main Menu
- Select the Internet service: Ethernet WAN
- Select the connection type (PPPoE, Dynamic IP, Static IP and Bridge): Dynamic IP (or IPoE)
>> VPI (Virtual Path Identifier): 8
>> VCI (Virtual Channel Identifier): 35
- VLAN ID: No VLAN / Untagged
>> 802.1P: -1
>> VLAN Tag: -1
- Wireless settings (2.4GHz and 5GHz)
>> Wireless 2.4GHZ and 5GHz: On
>> Network Name (WiFi Name): (create your own WiFi name)
>> Security Key Type: WPA2-PSK
>> WiFi Password: (create your own WiFi name)
- NAT: Enabled

Step-5. Test internet connection
