Router Setup Guide (Method-1 Using PC): D-Link R15

| Method-1: Using a PC/laptop for router settings


Step-1. Connect the router

(1) Turn off the modem (ONT)

Note that the modem means the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) device, known as a fibre box.

(2) Connect the modem (ONT) to the router's WAN port with an Ethernet cable.

(3) Turn on the modem (ONT), and then wait about 2 minutes for it to restart.

(4) Connect the power adapter to the router and turn on the router.

(5) Verify that the hardware connection is correct by checking the following LEDs.

Note that if the LEDs ((1) Power | (2) Internet | (3) Wireless 2.4GHz (4)Wireless 5GHz) should turn solid on.


Step-2. Access the router

Option-1. Wired: Turn off the Wi-Fi on your computer and connect the devices as shown below.

Option-2. Wireless:

a) Find the SSID (Wi-Fi name) and a password printed on the label at the bottom of the router.

b) Click the network icon of your computer or go to the Wi-Fi settings of your smart devices, and then select the SSID (Wi-Fi name) to join the network.

Step-3. Setup the router

(1) Open a web browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) and enter  http://XXX.devicesetup.net

Note that XXXX represents the last 4 digits of the MAC address. It is printed on the device label on the bottom of the device.

(2) Enter the Admin Password and click Log Into start the configuration process.

(3) Click [Agree] to agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

(4) Select [Router Mode]

(5) Click [Next] for Setup wizard

(6) Select the Internet Service Provider (Choose "Others") and click [Next]

(7) Select [No] and then click [Next]

Note: "Yes" indicates that the internet connection uses the PPPoE type. However, we provide a Dynamic IP connection instead of PPPoE.

(8) Create your own Wi-Fi name and password. And then, click [Next]

(9) Create the Device Admin Password

Note that it is used when you login the router for configuration.

(10) Select Time Zone: Pacific/Auckland

(11) Choose automatic update

(12) Summary

Step-4. Setup is complete

(1) Login to check the configuration

(2) Update Firmware (Recommended)

(3) Check configuration

Settings > Internet > IPv4 [My Internet Connection is Dynamic IP (DHCP)]

Settings > Internet > VLAN [Status: Disabled]

Step-5. Test internet connection
